KMP is recruiting now for skilled craft and construction workers
The Kitimat Modernization Project still needs qualified skilled workers. KMP is a major industrial construction project located in Kitimat, British Columbia. Bechtel Canada Company is under contract with Rio Tinto Alcan to perform engineering, procurement and construction management. As part of its role, Bechtel provides an employment program for KMP, wherein it accepts Expressions of Interest packages (eg. cover letter, resume, and relevant certificates) on behalf of the entire project. Works contractors review the submissions to determine those whose skills and qualifications are suitable for the scope of work.
Construction is governed by a Project Labour Agreement between the Kitimat Modernization Employer Association and the Coalition of British Columbia Building Trade Unions. At peak, the project will employ about 2,900 workers per day. Construction is in progress with commissioning and start-up to take place in 2015.
- Normal work week is Monday through Sunday, 10 hours per day
- Overtime will be paid for the 9th and 10th hour Monday to Friday and all hours worked on Saturday and Sundays
- Rotational leave schedule is 20 days on and 8 days off
- Ability to successfully complete pre-access substance testing
- Proof of training and experience
- Safety boots and adequate work clothing are the responsibility of the employee
